Join organizations, share computers, and understand member permissions

2 min readMarkdown5 sectionsopen computers →

Organizations let members share access to computers. They do not create LAN connections or make one model run across all shared hardware. See Clustering for physical peer configuration.

Join or create#

Open Orgs in the platform navigation. If you have no organization, the page offers joining or creating one. Existing members can use the organization switcher and + join to reach those options.

Joining requires an invitation to your email address from an organization admin. Creating an organization makes you its admin. Select the intended organization in the switcher before managing it.

Share a computer#

The computer owner can use the Organization dropdown in the computer's settings to select an organization or Personal. Choosing an organization shares access; choosing Personal removes that sharing.

Sharing does not transfer ownership. Some computer-management controls remain owner-only even when another member is an organization admin. If an action is missing or disabled, check both organization role and computer ownership.

Overview and members#

Overview shows the organization's shared computers. Members lists members and invitations. Admins can invite people by email, revoke pending invitations, and remove members.

Membership can make shared clusters available in Chat and model-download selection, subject to the operation's permissions and the computer being online. Seeing a shared computer does not guarantee permission to install a model or change its settings.

Leave or manage the organization#

Members can leave through the membership controls. The last admin cannot leave without first arranging another admin or resolving the organization through its administration flow.

Admins can rename or delete the organization in Controls. Deleting an organization removes its sharing relationship; it does not delete the computers themselves.

Troubleshooting#

If an invitation is missing, check that you signed in with the invited email and that the invitation is still pending. If a shared computer is missing, check the selected organization and whether its owner still shares it.

An offline shared computer cannot run inference merely because you are a member. Ask its owner to restore it, or select another eligible online cluster. See Chat and Model Discovery.
